Bhadarvi Poonam Maha Mela is being held at Shaktipeeth Ambaji from September 1 to 7, 2025. Ambaji, the center of faith and belief of crores of Mai devotees, has today developed into a pilgrimage destination with a Shaktipeeth. The State Government’s Holy Pilgrimage Development Board, Shri Arasuri Ambaji Mata Devasthan and the District Administration are committed to the development of Ambaji. In line with the faith of millions of devotees, efforts have been made to renovate the temple from time to time and give it a form in line with the faith. So let’s know the history of the renovation of Ambaji Temple today.

In 1972, the Ambaji Vikas Samiti was formed under the chairmanship of the then trustee of the temple and public life activist Shri Shankarlal Guru. As per the recommendations of this committee, the renovation work of the temple was undertaken in 1975. A great effort was made to transform the entire temple and create a sky-high, completely marble temple. The temple was divided into three sections: the temple itself, the pavilion and the spire, and the work was carried out in phases. Most of the work was completed between 1975 and 1988. The work on the peak was started from 1986 and continued till 1989.

During the ceremony of offering the Kalash on the 103-foot-high peak of the temple, a total of 145 Brahmins from Nepal, Kashmir and India were invited and the ceremony was performed by 30 yagnakundos. A Kalash weighing more than 3 tons made of a special marble stone quarried from the Arasur quarry of Ambaji has been placed on the peak.

Among the 51 Shaktipeeths of the country, it is said that this is the heart of Mother Shakti. That is why people come to Ambaji without fail. When the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he used to visit the Ambaji temple many times. The first 108 gold Kalash temples were also placed in the Ambaji temple by his hands. After which he requested people to donate gold to make the temple golden. It has been more than a decade since the work of making the temple golden. After the appeal of the then Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi to make the temple golden, many devotees are donating gold to Mukta Man to make the temple golden.
